Why?

“We believe that business is good because it creates value, it is ethical because it is based on voluntary exchange, it is noble because it can elevate our existence and it is heroic because it lifts people out of poverty and creates prosperity. Free enterprise capitalism is the most powerful system for social cooperation and human progress ever conceived.  It is one of the most compelling ideas we humans have ever had. But we can aspire to even more.”

From the Conscious Capitalist Credo

Why do this project?

Why do we do anything we do?

Why do you do what you do?

Is it to inspire? To cause change? To solve a problem?

To help people? To create a solution?

BEFORE we tell you "why", take a quick journey with us. Imagine you are on vacation, it is early, everyone is asleep so you decide to go for a walk before anyone wakes up.  You see your path and it runs right along the beach with the ocean in the distance.  You pull out your headphones and instead of listening to your favorite music station on Pandora, you decide to listen to a Ted Talk.  You come across the title, "Reimagining Capitalism with Higher Consciousness." You think it sounds enlightening and give it a try.  You hit play and start your walk...

After 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 15 minutes - you start to think: "this is how business should work, how company's should engage with their employees, their customers and the community."  You know the answers are not held in the government, and that charitable organizations provide support when needed but are not long term solutions.  You realize the future of our country lies in the hands of our companies...

We invite you to watch the same video. If after watching the video you feel the same way, then ask yourself, "how can I be a part of this project?"

We all have an opportunity to inspire, cause change, solve a problem, help many people and create a solution - join us!

Coincidence or Confluence?

Bob Chapman & Raj SisoDia

Is it coincidence that Bob Chapman and Raj Sisodia co-authored "Everybody Matters, The Extraordinary Power Of Caring For Your People Like Family?"  This is the book we will be using for our book study. In life you start to realize that it is not really based on coincidences but more on the confluence of happenings, some within your control and some that are not.  The confluence of people, ideas, concepts, experiences, motivations etc.. is what causes things to happen and is at the root of what inspires change.

After watching the discussion between Raj Sisodia and Bob Chapman, you will soon realize their mission is not based on coincidence but on the belief that change is possible with the confluence of people who believe in the same ideals.

Is your "Why" based on Motivation or Inspiration?

By now we would assume everyone of you have heard the Ted Talk and know of the massive success of the "Start With Your Why" thought process by Simon Sinek.  The discovery of your own "why" is arguably the purpose in your life and point of your life.  I am sure your "why" could change over time as you age, gain new experiences etc.. but in the end "why" you do what you do, how you do it and ultimately "why" you do something will define your life.  The same is true of your business, "what" you do, "how" you do it and "why" you do it will ultimately define your business.

Robert Byrne wrote, "The purpose of life is a life of purpose." We believe this wholeheartedly.  We also believe what William Ford Jr. said:  “ A good company delivers excellent products and services. An exceptional company does all that and strives to make the world a better place.”

Be Inspired, Be Inspirational

We believe that motivation comes from within however inspiration comes from something external.  Motivation is like energy, it can be stored up until it is needed and then it can be released. We can trace our motivation to the inspiration we received from John O'Leary.  Several years back we had the opportunity to hear John speak. His message of serving people - asking "what more can I do" resonated with our team so much it inspired us to envision a world that could be a different.  A world in which the values he speaks about could be a part of our everyday lives.  John's message is about being "people engaged", his message is the same as Raj Sisodia, the same as Bob Chapman's. Is that a coincidence or the confluence?

"Why" are we doing this project?

Because the world needs to be inspired by what is possible

AND

We can change the way business is being done.

We can create the metrics and methods to help companies understand the importance of being "people Engaged."

We can make a difference if we start putting our people (employee's, clients and customers) first, by helping them find the solutions they need to the problems they have.

That is our why. Yours may be different. Either way, our community needs your leadership and desire to make our community better.  Will you join us?
